Nestled in the Cauca region of Colombia, Café Granja La Esperanza is a family-owned farm renowned for its commitment to coffee innovation. Under the guidance of producer Rigoberto Herrera, the farm has been at the forefront of experimenting with unique coffee varieties and processing methods. At the Las Margaritas farm, Rigoberto has introduced several exotic coffee varieties not typically found in Colombia, including some of the earliest plantings of Geisha and sudan rume trees in the country.

The Sudan Rume variety is originally Ethiopian landrace and brought to Las Margaritas to experiment with because of its potential cup profile. Sasa Sestic became World Barista Champion using Sudan Rume, Grown at 1830 meters above sea level in the Cauca Valley in the west part of Colombia. Las Margaritas is known for growing many different varieties on their farm, which is super interesting because it allows us to taste the influence that variety has on the flavor in the cup.
